OUR MISSION

Bellicose Martial Arts strives to help students build stronger bodies, sharper minds, and practical self-defense skills through Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and other martial arts. We combine expert instruction, purposeful workouts, and a supportive training environment for all ages.

WHAT WE TEACH:

  • PRACTICAL SELF-DEFENSE

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a practical self-defense system that uses principles of leverage and body mechanics.

  • FIGHTING FUNDAMENTALS

Muay Thai develops balance, movement, body mechanics, control, and discipline while also honing fighting skills.

  • FITNESS and PURPOSE

Improve strength, conditioning, flexibility, and endurance with classes that keep you engaged and progressing.

OUR HISTORY

Bellicose Martial Arts began in 2010 as Bowie MMA, with BJJ black belt Carlos Catania and Charles Cherry who was a black belt in Judo at the time. The school became known for strong Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), and competition training while building a loyal community of students and families.

In 2020, the school became Bellicose Martial Arts after moving to Crofton, Maryland. The new name reflects a focused, confident approach to training while supporting a more family-friendly, martial arts environment.

Today, Bellicose Martial Arts is led by Professor Charles Cherry, a 3rd Degree Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt, 2nd Degree Judo Black Belt, Kickboxing Black Belt, and experienced wrestling coach. Bellicose teaches Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Judo, Muay Thai Kickboxing, Wrestling, Self-defense, and fitness classes for the Crofton and Bowie communities.

Bellicose Martial Arts teaches a mix of martial arts which include Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Judo, Muay Thai Kickboxing, and Wrestling.

We are grateful for the continued support of our students and families, and we look forward to helping the next generation train with confidence, discipline, and purpose.
